StreamVox v1.3.6 - Translation Profiles & Next-Level CJK Support
StreamVox v1.3.6 just shipped on the Microsoft Store. Two features that users have been asking about for a while are finally here: Translation Profiles and a completely reworked CJK pipeline.
Translation Profiles
Not all conversations sound the same. A Valorant lobby has nothing in common with a quarterly business review, and neither sounds like a movie dialogue. Until now, StreamVox used a single translation model for everything. That worked - but it left performance on the table.
Starting with v1.3.6, you can pick a profile that matches what you're doing:
- General - The default. Balanced for everyday use: YouTube videos, podcasts, casual browsing.
- Games - Tuned for gaming. Handles slang, callouts, and rapid-fire voice chat. If someone yells "he's one-shot behind the box", you'll get a clean translation instead of literal nonsense.
- Meeting - Optimized for calls and conferences. Picks up business terms, formal tone, and speaker turns more accurately. Works great with Zoom, Teams, Google Meet.
- Film / Stream - Built for entertainment. Better handling of dialogue pacing, emotional tone, and idiomatic speech in movies, TV shows, anime, and live streams.
Switching profiles takes one click in the app. The AI adapts its vocabulary, pacing, and context window behind the scenes - you just pick the mode and go.
Next-Level CJK Support
Japanese, Chinese, and Korean are some of the hardest languages for real-time translation. The grammar is completely different from European languages, word boundaries aren't always obvious, and honorific systems add layers of nuance.
In v1.3.6 we rebuilt the CJK processing pipeline from scratch:
- Line-by-line rendering - Text now appears in sync with the speaker's rhythm instead of dumping a whole paragraph at once. This makes the overlay much easier to follow, especially for anime and dramas.
- No rogue spaces - Previous versions occasionally inserted spaces between Asian characters where they don't belong. Fixed. Output is now clean and native-looking.
- Better context awareness - The model now holds more context for CJK pairs, which means fewer misreadings of homophones and particles. Japanese は (wa vs. ha), Chinese 了 (le vs. liǎo), Korean 가/이 - all handled more reliably.
If you watch anime, C-dramas, or Korean variety shows, this update is a big deal. The translation isn't perfect - no real-time system is - but it's noticeably closer to what a human would write.
How to Update
The Microsoft Store should update StreamVox automatically. To force it:
- Open Microsoft Store
- Go to Library
- Click Get updates
Or just relaunch the app - if there's a new version available, you'll see a prompt.
