By default, StreamVox uses Windows' modern audio capture (Process Loopback) β fast, silent, and works for most apps. But communication apps that route audio through Windows' Default Communication Device sometimes aren't picked up by the modern API.
Apps affected
- Microsoft Teams
- Zoom
- Discord (voice calls)
- Skype
- WhatsApp Desktop
- Slack huddles
- WebEx
- GoToMeeting
Fix: enable Compatible Mode
The fix takes 3 seconds.
Open the audio source menu
In the StreamVox main window, click the audio source button at the top. It shows the current mode: π System Audio, π€ Microphone, or π― Application.
Scroll to the bottom of the dropdown
The options panel slides open. Compatibility settings live at the very bottom of the list.
Enable 'Use only if Teams/Zoom is silent'
Toggle the π Use only if Teams/Zoom is silent option on. StreamVox switches to a compatibility capture path that reliably handles communication apps. Restart your capture session β audio from Teams, Zoom, Discord, Skype and similar apps will now be detected.
Tip: Leave this option off for normal use β the default mode is faster and prevents audio feedback when using text-to-speech features. Only enable it if a specific communication app isn't being captured.
Browser users: If you use Zoom or Teams in a web browser instead of the desktop app, Compatible Mode is usually not needed β captures work fine in default mode.
